Topic: Innovation Imperative
Understand how the forces of change are making innovation an imperative in addressing complex problems, creating a new value proposition, or gaining a competitive advantage. Learn how to define innovation within the construct of the service industry, avoid common pitfalls, and apply guiding principles to successfully foster a culture of innovation. Attendees will identify how to improve the application of innovation within their organization by implementing an innovation framework and design process that strengthens leadership support, employee creativity, and organizational learning.
Speaker: John Timmerman - ASQ Chairman of the Board
John is a senior strategist for the Gallup organization with expertise in architecting the customer experience through the design of culture, systems, and technologies. Prior to joining Gallup, John was the Vice President of Operations and Quality for The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company and most recently served as the Global Vice President of Guest Experience and Rooms Operations for Marriott’s portfolio of 18 brands and over 3,700 hotels worldwide.
As recognized thought-leader in the science of service, he has provided over 300 lectures on the topic of designing customer centric organizations and is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Delaware. John is currently the Chairman of the Board for the American Society for Quality that comprises over eighty thousand quality professionals and was a former Senior Examiner for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.
John graduated Cum Laude with a B.S. from the University of Delaware, received a M.S. from the Rochester Institute of Technology, and is currently completing his Ph.D. at Iowa State University. Prior to starting his career in the hospitality industry, John served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a 2nd Force Reconnaissance Marine.
